Donald Sterling – Racist comments – $2.5 million

In one of the biggest scandals in NBA history, racist comments made by Clippers owner Donald Sterling in a private conversation were made public. This was the first real test for the new commissioner Adam Silver, who wasted no time punishing Sterling as hard as he could. Other than the fine (which he hasn’t paid because he was getting a lifetime ban anyway), Sterling also earned a lifetime ban from all events associated with the NBA and had his team sold to Steve Balmer
