Patrick O’Bryant – GSW – No 9, 2006
For most of the 2000s, the only thing Warriors fans had to look forward to was the draft lottery, and even then luck was rarely on their side. That didn’t change in 2006, when the No 9 pick was wasted on 7-footer Patrick O’Bryant, who was sent to the D-League before the season even ended.
Following a few brief seasons with the Celtics and Raptors, O’Bryant was out of the league with only 90 games under his belt and a record high of 4.5 PPG and 2.5 RPG. The saddest thing is you can’t blame the team for this decision because the choice of big men in the 2006 draft was very limited.
