Evolution of Kobe’s Signature Sneakers From 1996 to 2016

The Kobe IX was conceived when Kobe tore his achilles in the VIII. It wasn’t really the sneaker’s fault – just Kobe playing too hard for his aging body. Many designers have though about adding a sock-like extension seen on the IX, but Nike’s Eric Avar was the first one to actually make it happen because technology was finally up to par. This sneaker not only helped Kobe heal up, but also turned a lot of heads with the unique design. It came in both low and high variants, with the Elite edition coming out first.
