Evolution of Kobe’s Signature Sneakers From 1996 to 2016
With the Kobe 11, Nike lowered the midsole of the shoe, bringing the player closer to the court and providing the ability to react quicker to the game. They also evolved the FlyKnit to feature TPU threads that reinforce the knit at extreme levels – a beautiful going-away sneaker for the guy who changed the game both on the court and on the sneaker front. The 11s continued the new tradition of being available in high and low.
Even though Kobe is no longer playing, his sneakers will most likely live on. Kobe wanted his shoes to be all about function over style, so you have to wonder how the future models will be affected by him not having to play in them.
