Minnesota Timberwolves – the whitest team of the 2012 – 2013 season
The Minnesota Timberwolves roster is looking a little pale this seaon with Dante Cunningham, Malcolm Lee, Brandon Roy and Derrick Williams being the only black players on the team, making it one of the whitest teams since the 1980s Boston Celtics. This does not sit well with St. Paul’s African American leadership council Tyrone Terrell.
“How did we get a roster that resembles the 1955 Lakers?” asks Terrell. “I think everything is a strategy. Nothing happens by happenstance.” He was also quoted saying it’s “scary” that the Timberwolves would put together a roster composed almost 70% of white players.
The players in the minority don’t seem to mind too much.”The only problem we have is in the weight room, arguing over what music we’re going to listen to,” said Brandon Roy.
