Michael Jordan signs with the Knicks (1996)
According to Spike Lee’s book The Best Seat in The House, him and Michael had a conversation after a commercial shoot in late 1996 where he asked Jordan if there’s any chance of him playing in New York. Jordan said there was a chance earlier that year when he was negotiating his second contract with the Bulls.
He was very close to signing with the Knicks until Chicago offered him $30 million for one year. Needless to say, a team with Jordan and Ewing would be a sight to see and the Bulls’ second three-peat would be very unlikely.
