10 Landmark Firsts in the History of Basketball

The very first NBA (BAA at the time) draft took place in Detroit, on July 1 1947, with the first ever draft pick going to Clifton McNeely out of Texas Wesleyan University, drafted by the Pittsburgh Ironmen. The team folded before the season began, so McNeely chose to be basketball coach at Pampa High School in Texas over being assigned to another team.
